Registering Over 18 Credits
Writing 150 Hold

If you desire to take over 18 credits a semester, contact our office for approval.

  • If your GPA is a 3.5 or above, we can allow you to take up to 21 credits if you have taken a high credit load in the past.
  • If your GPA is under a 3.5 or you have never taken a high credit load, you will have to meet with your academic advisor to discuss your reasoning for exceeding the 18 credit allotment.

You must let the advisement center know EXACTLY how many credits you are wanting to take. For example: If you say 20 and it’s only 19.5, the system will not allow you to register.

It is important to know that although you have approval for more than 18 credits, you will not be able to register for more than 18 credits until the first day of class.

This hold occurs when you have not completed the Writing 150 GE requirement during your first two semesters. Until the class is completed, there will be a hold on your account and you will not be able to register for classes.

If you are trying to register for class and need to remove the hold, contact the advisement center.

However, the hold removal will last only until midnight, so be sure to register for classes beforehand. If you do not register for the WRTG 150 class, the hold will be placed on your account again.
