German & Russian

Provides knowledge on the basic principles underlying the linguistic structure of German and recognize how this knowledge can help increase receptive understanding and creativity with the German language.

Engage with and cogently discuss culturally significant German-language literary, historical, artistic, film and musical texts and artifacts, and analyze and discuss these works in their various social, cultural, historical and religious/ethical contexts.

Gain German language skills in all areas of competency: speaking, reading, writing and aural comprehension, including an understanding of the structure and/or history of German and other related Germanic languages.

Develop an appreciation of the highest attainments of Russian culture, particularly Russian literature, and learn strategies and techniques that will lead to lifelong learning.
