Interdisciplinary Humanities

Exploring the Major

Why should you study Interdisciplinary Humanities?

Students in Interdisciplinary Humanities have the chance to study various art genres from across the world and different time periods. Students will engage with visual arts, literature, music, film and culture, studying how they relate to each other and how they relate to other academic disciplines. Since the major is so broad, students will have the chance to choose a track, a minor, or a double major to deepen their knowledge of a specific academic area.

Student Success Stories

Elizabeth: “A humanities degree opened the windows of possibility and my own eyes, so that when opportunities came, I was prepared with the skills and ability to recognize them and act. … Each class I took required me to seek deeper meaning and understanding, and to be able to make new connections across genre, time, and place. My career requires me to hone a huge variety of professional skills like: Marketing, Grant Proposal Writing, Website Design, Social Media Management, Gallery Curation, Curriculum Building, Pedagogy, Accounting.”

Zach: “What are the skills you learned in your major that you now use in your life? Thinking, Speaking, Writing, Comparison, Imagination, Analysis. … there are fewer things rarer and more precious than the ability to think for oneself and to use imagination to create new things.”
